The Indonesia Muslim Foundation – IMFO was established in 1997, to coordinate the Indonesian Muslim Community’s activities in the greater Los Angeles area. It is a non-profit organization with a 501 (c) (3) tax code. Our Federal Tax ID (EIN) is 95-4596990.
In August 2017, we purchased a 100 year old (built in 1920) church located at 1200 S. Kenmore Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90006. It’s located in a very strategic place, in the heart of The City of Los Angeles, the Capital of Entertainment of the World, one of the most visited & celebrated cities in the world. It’s about a mile (1.6 KM) from The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) Los Angeles headquarters. Moreover, due to the age and the beauty of the architecture, this building has been designated by The Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission as a Historic-Cultural Monument which is worthy of preservation.
We converted this building to a mosque and we named it “Indonesia Muslim Community Center – Masjid At-Thohir” and it is currently in the phase of its renovation. This renovation is needed not only to facilitate the Islamic worship requirements and classrooms, but also to improve the safety. Your donations will help fund the Mosque’s renovation.
Moreover, Insha Allah, after renovation this Mosque will be a much needed and significant additional place of worship for the Muslim community in the greater Los Angeles area. Because of its beauty it will become a new Islamic Landmark in the City of Los Angeles.
